A Different Approach to Orthopaedic Care

Dr. Abhishek Shenoy is an orthopaedic surgeon with experience across both government and corporate healthcare settings, giving him a broad perspective on treating musculoskeletal problems across different stages of life.

His training and clinical experience at institutions including Victoria Hospital, Ganga Hospital Coimbatore, and Tejasvini Hospital Mangalore have exposed him to a wide spectrum of orthopaedic conditions — from complex trauma and sports injuries to joint degeneration and joint replacement.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Shenoy has been involved in more than 15,000 surgeries, building extensive experience across knee, hip and shoulder conditions and developing a deep understanding of when surgery can make a meaningful difference — and when it may not be necessary.

From Treating Problems to Preventing Them
"The best orthopaedic treatment is not always surgery. Sometimes, it is preventing the need for surgery in the first place."

With years of surgical experience came a simple realisation — this led Dr. Shenoy to develop a particular interest in preventive orthopaedics: an approach focused on identifying musculoskeletal problems early, preserving joint health, maintaining strength and mobility, preventing injuries, and helping patients remain active for as long as possible.

His Philosophy

Understand the problem first, preserve what can be preserved, rehabilitate where possible, and operate when there is a clear reason to do so. Dr. Shenoy believes avoiding unnecessary surgery should never mean avoiding progress.

When surgery is genuinely required, patients should have access to modern, evidence-based techniques and technology that can improve planning, precision and outcomes where appropriate — his experience with robotic-assisted joint replacement and minimally invasive procedures allows him to combine technology with surgical judgement, rather than letting technology dictate treatment.

"Technology should be used to solve problems — not create reasons to operate."

The Goal Is Bigger Than the Joint

For Dr. Shenoy, orthopaedics is ultimately not about an X-ray, an MRI or an operation. It is about what the patient wants to get back to.

In the Operating Room

Every case begins with the same question: what does this patient actually need? Whether it is a complex trauma reconstruction, a robotic-assisted joint replacement, or an arthroscopic repair, Dr. Shenoy's approach in theatre is built on the same principle he applies in the clinic — precision in service of function, not surgery for its own sake.
